All-White Kitchens: How to Introduce Contrast, Warmth and Color

Categories

March 9, 2017 by Tricia L

The all-white kitchen trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, likely because of the airy and bright atmosphere it provides. White cabinetry and countertops are a popular kitchen renovation project theme, although kitchen design can become lackluster with no color or contrast introduced. White cabinets and countertops aren’t enough to achieve the light and bright look you’re going for, and adding an extra touch can go a long way. With that said, here are some tips on how to introduce contrast, warmth and color to your all-white kitchen design project.

Contrast

To off-set the staleness of an all-white design, adding contrast will make a big difference. Instead of doing white walls, white cabinets and white countertops, add some contrast by using a dark color for the island and/or countertops. Using a black granite countertop or a butcher block will add a nice contrast and spice up the all-white design.

Warmth

In addition to contrast, adding some warmth to an all-white kitchen is just as important. To achieve this, consider installing a wood floor. The quality of wood adds a traditional design aspect to a kitchen that might otherwise lack in color or depth. The wood will take the kitchen design from cold to a warm and inviting space for your guests.

Color

Adding too much color to an all-white kitchen defeats the purpose of the design, however, adding just the right amount of color is necessary to create balance. The shade of color chosen will solely depend on personal design taste, but the pop of color will help aid in making the all-white design stand out. The added color can be used in the form of a paint color, accessories like dishware, or art.
